Christmas 2012

Dusty and I love quiet holidays! We both love our families but nothing beats spending Christmas in our own quiet little apartment. We opened presents in the morning, video chatted with our families around noon and then went to our friends house for dinner. It was a perfect Christmas and we were totally spoiled!

Santa gave me a barbie doll

Dusty got more Mario games

I LOVE I Dream of Jeannie

Dusty got new RAM for his computer... can I say nerd

I got the best jacket ever from Randy and Susie

I love sheep!

Dusty got me a sewing machine

Dusty got video games, controllers and huge STD cards
haha oops I meant flash drives.... I must have STD's on my mind

It was a great Christmas and the start for a perfect new year!

Fall 2012

Our fall consisted in a lot of football. We went to almost every WSU home football game and usually sat within the first 15 rows. It was a change from BYU football but I thought that the students weren't as bad as we'd been told. We also went to Seattle a few times but I can't find the pictures from those trips.

Football...

Football...

And more football

I made my first gluten-free bread that didn't turn out to be a disaster

Dusty participated in Movember and I didn't actually hate it

Dusty's Birthday

I flew back from Utah the night before Dusty's 25th birthday. We were both exhausted because my flight came in late and then we had to drive back from Spokane but we still had a blast on Dusty's birthday opening presents and eating pizza.

Dusty's pile of presents

Dusty loves mario

Once Dusty told me that if he could own anything in the world he would own the BYU library. My mom and I found this football with the BYU library on it and got it for him.

He loves plain old bubbly water

My parents gave him the Hunger Games, but we know it was really for me haha

A Quick Trip to Utah

Jefferson returned from his mission in California in August so I flew there to see him and my family. It was a super quick trip, I flew there on Friday night and came back on Sunday night but it was lots of fun. We went shopping, and Alaina played in my make-up and we had a big family party.

Alaina loved the $3 shorts we found for Dusty

and the sunglasses

She also hoarded her fries and kept calling them "mine chicken's, mine"

A sibling picture before I left

Alaina found my make-up while I was packing

She loved playing with the brushes.

It's good to have Jefferson home, and I can't wait to visit my family again in July.

My New Job

Back in May I interviewed for a secretary job at the local health department in Colfax, WA. I didn't get that job but the director called me and told me that she was going to try to create a new job for me doing public health promotion. It took a long time and I almost lost my patience a few times but finally in August I got to start. I love my job! Everyone asks what I do and usually i list off a few things and then just say that I can't remember the rest. I keep a list at my desk to remind me of each program so that I don't forget about anything. Here is the full list, or at least what I can remember without looking at my list.

1. Tobacco Prevention and Control Program
2. Nutrition and Obesity Program
3. Maternal and Child Health Program
4. I work with the other 9 other health departments in our health district to collaborate on ideas and programs
5. Health department website
6. Health department social media
7. I facilitate the strategic planning process
8. Assessment coordinator
9. Local health fairs
10.Write grants

It's a lot to do and it keeps me super busy but I can't complain because we have lots of fun too!

Waiting for my first job interview

My first day of work and Dusty's first day of school

We all dressed up for halloween

My first paycheck in a grown-up person job :)

Our booth at the Schweitzer Health and Wellness Fair

I found this sweet costume in my tobacco supply closet

Update in February: Most recently I did a health fair at WSU where I gave out condom valentines and educated on STD's. It was tons of fun to see the embarrassed faces of individuals as they opened my valentines.

Summer 2012

Dusty and I were both jobless during the summer of 2012 and since Dusty only had to take one class to take we got to spend every day together. I was surprised that we didn't get sick of one-another's company but we had a fantastic summer. We visited Dusty's parents at least once every month, camped lots and had family come to visit. I loved being able to do whatever I wanted for the whole summer. Dusty and I had a blast and wish we could spend every summer doing whatever we please.
